DOUBLE YOUR GIFT

Did you know that you may be able to double your donation through your employer’s Matching Gift Policy? Obtain a Matching Gift form from your company’s Human Resources Department, complete it and enclose it with your gift. Click here for a list of matching gift companies.

CREDIT CARD POINTS

Donate earned credit card points to help support the individuals in our programs. Redeeming credit card points can help provide items needed to improve program sites, and cut expenses to ensure the maximum amount of money is available to spend on the care of our participants.

STOCKS, BONDS, OR MUTUAL FUNDS

One of the most beneficial ways to give is through stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other types of securities. You can give appreciated stock you have owned for at least one year and deduct the full market value as a charitable contribution. Your tax deductible gift allows you to bypass capital gains taxes.

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN

Many employers offer workplace giving programs including United Way. By visiting the Human Resources department of your company, you can fill out an enrollment form and choose Oak-Leyden to receive a specific tax deductible donation from your paycheck. You can choose to make a one time gift or you can pledge a gift over a year and increments are deducted from your paycheck throughout the year.

REAL ESTATE

If you have owned the property for more than one year, you can deduct the full fair-market value as a charitable contribution.

INSURANCE

By making Oak-Leyden Developmental Services the owner and beneficiary of your paid-up life insurance policy, your charitable contribution is generally the replacement value or cost-basis of the policy, whichever is less. Premiums paid on a gifted life insurance policy also qualify for a charitable deduction.

CHARITABLE TRUST

A charitable trust offers tax savings while providing an annual income to you or your family. A charitable trust is funded with an asset, such as appreciated property or securities, which may be sold by the trust and the proceeds reinvested to produce greater yield for you.

MAKE A PLANNED GIFT

Make Oak-Leyden part of your planned giving by working with your family lawyer to add bequest language to your will. Here is a good example of bequest language:

“I give to Oak-Leyden Developmental Services, Inc. (Oak-Leyden), with primary offices located at 411 Chicago Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60302 [Insert written amount of gift, percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use.”
