For the past few months during this Covid-19 crisis, Oak-Leyden has been navigating through a rapidly changing environment and landscape to ensure the health and safety of all our clients/residents and staff.
Extensive safety, prevention and staffing measures have been taken to adequately staff and provide for our clients in each of our (12) group resident homes. This includes creating new staffing models and structures and purchasing extensive PPE supplies to keep our staff and residents safe. Our new normal includes enhanced daily cleaning and disinfecting, providing an ongoing supply of personal protective equipment in each home, along with conducting daily temperature and wellness checks for our clients. In addition, we have had to purchase other essentials in preparing for the worst-case scenario of widespread infection and the need to transition to a 24-hour live-in model in our homes should the need arise.
As you can imagine, these staffing and operational changes come with significant additional cost to the agency’s operating budget.
We are very excited to share The Coleman Foundation has established a program which is providing Oak-Leyden a $25,000 Matching Grant to help us during these unprecedented and challenging times.
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT –DONATE NOW
Giving Tuesday organizers established #GivingTuesdayNow as a global day of giving and unity which will take place on Tuesday May 5th, as an emergency response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Every individual gift to Oak-Leyden between now and June 1st, however, will be matched $ for $ up to $25,000! This means a donation of $1,000 becomes $2,000, a gift of $500 becomes $1,000 and so forth.
We are reaching out to all our friends, donors and past supporters to consider a one-time special gift to help Oak-Leyden navigate through these uncharted waters. Every gift will have an immediate and lasting impact on our client/residents, families, caregivers and staff.
Thank you for your consideration of this special request and your ongoing support throughout the year. Oak-Leyden could not exist without the generosity of our donors.
We wish you continued good health and wellness during these unprecedented times.
Sincerely,
Steve Pratapas
Interim CEO, Oak-Leyden Developmental Services, Inc.
