OAK PARK, IL, October 31, 2019 – Participants at our Oak Park and Elmwood Park Lifelong Learning Centers will be collecting food for needy families in our communities.  This first-ever food drive will run from November 1st-22nd, with donation boxes at our Lifelong Learning Centers:  320 Chicago Avenue, Oak Park and 24 Conti Parkway, Elmwood Park. The Centers are open Monday through Friday, 8:30AM-2:30PM.  The food will be distributed to two food banks in our service areas.

“One of our goals is to encourage our program participants to be active in the community,” says Oak-Leyden’s CEO Bertha G. Magana, “We also encourage the community to be a part of Oak-Leyden.”

Oak-Leyden’s Lifelong Learning Centers provide day programming for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Participants learn life skills, organize seasonal parties, and go on offsite activities.

The food drive collection in Elmwood Park wil  benefit Leyden Township’s food pantry, and the collection in Oak Park will benefit the Oak Park-River Forest Food Pantry.  For details or more information on this activity, contact Chuck Nilles, Director of Vocational Services at 708-524-1050 ext. 201 or cnilles@oak-leyden.org.
