These are extraordinary times for Oak-Leyden and each of us in our daily lives as we feel the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We at Oak-Leyden want to thank all our families, guardians and friends for their continued support during this crisis. Please be assured we continue to follow recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other state public health agencies while taking every precaution to ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff.
Sadly yesterday, we learned of our first positive COVID-19 case in one of our group homes. We quickly mobilized our COVID-19 crisis plans to safeguard other residents in the home and our staff as we continue providing needed daily care and services to our residents. We will soon be moving to a staff live-in model for 24/7 staffing in any of our homes where we have positive cases. We are also ensuring there is adequate personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, gowns, goggles/face shields, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes) for staff working in our homes. This safety equipment is very costly and hard to acquire but of utmost importance to the safety of our staff.
The need to create new staffing models, procedures and changes in our service delivery protocol to adequately and safely provide for our residents in group homes during this pandemic also brings significant increased costs to the organization. These costs greatly impacts our budget and financial position.
Please consider helping Oak-Leyden during this challenging time by making a cash donation to help offset the additional costs we are incurring to adequately staff our homes. Donate now here or visit the Get Involved drop-down on our website to make your online donation.
We greatly appreciate all you do for Oak-Leyden throughout the year, and hope you and your family remain safe and healthy during these challenging times. Thank you again for your ongoing support.
