Building A Bright Future.
Oak-Leyden’s Supported Employment Program assists adults with developmental disabilities in securing private sector jobs at competitive wages. Our program’s strength hinges on successfully supporting individuals to retain long-term employment. Oak-Leyden explores each program participant’s interests and talents to help them find their ideal job. In case after case, we find that being employed enhances self esteem and allows for greater choices in the lives of the individuals we serve.
Initiated in 1986, Oak-Leyden’s Supported Employment Program ensures that people with developmental disabilities are individually supported to obtain and hold jobs in the community. Job developers work with our local employers to identify positions that fit well with an individual participant’s interests and vocational talents. Job coaches provide on-the-job training to ensure a successful transition and ongoing support to sustain each participant’s employment.
