A Community Built on Compassion.
Oak-Leyden serves as a hub for families of children with developmental disabilities. We provide access to a wealth of support and a community of other families. Frequently, parents or guardians don’t have peers who understand their child’s unique struggle. When they find someone else who does, it feels like a second family. Oak-Leyden’s connections can build lifelong friendships.
Parenting a child with a developmental disability is a gift, but credible information about handling the unique challenges can be difficult to find. Oak-Leyden offers helpful resources about developmental disabilities to parents and guardians.
In addition to creating individualized plans for children and adults in our program, our service professionals offer valuable strategies to their parents or guardians. Personalized education provides a deeper understanding than reading a book or website. Many parents or guardians report feeling a greater sense of confidence in their own parenting thanks to Oak-Leyden.
